What I did was to delete the game, go to the tf2 folder in steam, go inside the folder, delete everything.
Then reinstall tf2.
Once done verify the cache.
Once I finished, it was fixed.
The game continues to receive official Valve server support as of July 2022, in addition to new content being released on a seasonal basis in the form of submissions made through the Steam Workshop.
All you need to do is prune your custom files folder and autoexec file, if you have anything like custom animations or skins, delete them, the game should run fine once you delete certain files, since the crashing is likely the fault of something you downloaded.
