RCN is changing to Astound Broadband under a unification of five regional companies acquired by a private equity firm, with the formal transition to the Astound name announced Wednesday.
Unplug the cable modems power cable from the electrical outlet on the wall, not from the back of the modem (if possible).
If RCN Digital Phone service is present remove the battery.
Wait about 60 seconds.

Next, verify that the modem has power by verifying that power light is lit up.
