Frequent failures of Audacity

Another possible reason for Audacity's failure in recording sound could be the installation problem.
You can fix it by restarting the software.
If it's still not working, download this program again.
Also, make sure your computer has enough storage to install Audacity.

Click Effect > Repair to replace the selected audio with the repaired audio.
Zoom back out (or grab the handle on the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the screen and drag leftwards), click a few seconds before the region you were repairing, and play from there to hear if the repair sounds OK.

What you can try (this is a last ditch effort), is to force quit Audacity through the Windows Task Manager, then reboot the computer, then launch Audacity and see if Audacity can recover the project after the reboot.

Re: Audacity Stops Recording If you have Sound Activated Recording checked, Audacity will stop working if the sound drops below a certain volume.
Transport > Transport Options > Sound Activated Recording.

Troubleshooting Tips

Problem solved? Still can't connect to Audacity? Continue with Step 2.
Turn it on again. Clear internet cookies and browser cache.
Still stuck and not enjoying Audacity, then go to Step 3.
Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall running in the background. Now, if you can access Audacity, be informed that your security software is causing problems. Try adding Audacity to the set of trusted sites.
DNS is a service that translates Audacity into a machine-readable address called an IP address. In most cases, this job is done by your ISP. If only specific sites are not opening, it is likely to be corrupted.
